Don't Let Us Get Sick!
My friend K came over last week with her 10 month old, V and I think Little man caught something from V. She's always sick and isn't even in daycare, I don't get it. Anyway about 2-3 days later after hanging out with K and V, Little man came down with a mild cold. The problem lies in that R usually then gets sick and it's always MUCH worse. I don't know why it always seems to work out that way, but it does. R said that he feels like he's getting sick and this is THE worst possible time because Thursday we leave for our little mini vacation in Chicago for his 30th birthday. I'm not feeling 100% either, go figure, we're completely healthy until a big event rolls around :o( It's a big surprise and he has NO idea that we are going. I had his boss schedule an all day fake meeting with him so he's been bummed for months that he has to spend the day in at a meeting with his boss on his birthday.
I'm so excited for the surprise because I think I totally pulled this off without a hitch and I don't think he's even suspecting a thing. I figured out the perfect way to tell him too, a Hall.mark recordable card. They make cards now where you can record a message so tomorrow I'm going to get one and that's how I'll reveal the surprise. If you recall I cancelled the trip several times due to finances but finally I was able to scale down the trip, events, and food so that we could still swing it. I'm really, really hoping the weather cooperates because we are on foot the whole time as we are taking the train in and I hope we're both healthy so that we can enjoy ourselves. I also hope he'll LOVE it.
After posting last night and reading the comments from my loyal readers (thanks Chas and Mary, I really love your comments!) I think I'm going to write down really important things but otherwise mind my own business. I mean does it really matter if he has juice one time instead of finishing his milk, probably not. It's a pick your battles sort of thing. Our next appt. isn't until next Monday with our therapist so I'd love to have another week where we don't have any big fights to talk about. So my goal for this week: "Work on disengaging when I'm tutoring"
