BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I'm completely worked up!!!!! I was just watching T.V. and folding laundry when I heard water gushing in our basement. I ran downstairs and water was spraying full force by our water softener and washer and dryer. Mind you the dryer was on so I quickly turned it off and then proceeded to almost hyperventilate. I somehow found the phone and called my husband. He instructed me to turn off the water main to the house and the spraying stopped. I couldn't even tell where the water was coming from because it was just spraying ALL over. Part of the insulation is wet and fell down, the wall is soaked, the floor had about a 1/4 inch of water, the washer and dryer are soaked, and I'm completely worked up. I ran into the garage and got a garbage can, luckily it was empty, and put it under the small leak we have going on now. I pray that my husband gets home soon. OMG if I wasn't home when this happened our basement would be flooded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God my husband knows how to fix things!!!!!! I pray that he will be able to figure out this problem and get it all taken care of. I'm just a mess, my heart was pumping a mile a minute, I was having trouble breathing, and I was racing all around like a bat out of hell. I put every towel we have on the floor to soak up all the water and hope to God nothing else happens before he gets home. I'm so glad Little man wasn't here when all this was going on. If this would have happened when we were out of town we would have been completely screwed. What a way to start the new year :o(

UPDATE: The pipe to the water softener just came unglued, not sure how, but it was actually quite minor. R got out early and came home and it literally took like 5 minutes to fix it because he already had the cleaner and glue. I guess I should have known more and been able to fix the situation or at least explain it to him over the phone. I'm catching a lot of shit how for freaking out. This is all new to me and I'm not too familiar with home stuff or fixing things. At least I learned where the water main was today and how to turn it off. Wish I would have learned that before now :o( Guess I learned the hard way! Let's keep our fingers crossed there are no other water pipe breaks.

When I first started reading I though you might have had a burst pipe due to freezing, which happened to my parents a few years ago and it was a big mess with removing entire walls worth of drywall. I'm so glad you didn't have to deal with that. Don't feel too bad either, b/c I would have totally flipped out.
