Day Off

I didn't end up getting a subbing job today, which wasn't surprising since it was the day after Christmas break and the schools were closed the day before break. I did however, get jobs for the rest of the week. Tomorrow I'm at the high school in a geography/economics class. Then the rest of the week I'm at the elementary school around the corner from us in grades 4, 2, and 5. So far I have two days scheduled next week on Wednesday and Thursday. The pay period ends next Thursday so I have a possibility to have 8 days for period. Hopefully I'll be able to schedule jobs everyday for the 16-30th pay period so I'll get a big fat check in the beginning of February.

We found out today that R didn't get the job at the university near my parents house :( I'm sad for him because I know that an offer would have really been nice since he's been job hunting for so long. He said that it would have at least made him feel wanted. We are left with one opportunity, and that's the Nebraska job. He's supposed to hear late this week or early next week if he gets an in person interview. I sure hope some other job opportunities come up because only having one prospect isn't very good. The Nebraska job had 160 applicants and R made the cut into the pool of 12 individuals but I'm sure those 12 people are highly qualified. I'm sure it's going to be tough to land. R is so talented and is very qualified but in this economy you are going up against the best people for every job, all 12 individuals are most likely highly qualified.

I got a lot done today so it was nice having the day off. We took down all the Christmas tree ornaments and lights so R can haul the tree out for garbage pick up tomorrow. Baby M went for his 4 month check up and is 26 inches long and 14 1/2 pounds. He got 2 shots and then the oral roto.virus immunizati.on. He also had the cutest laughing fit where he was just giggling nonstop. It was so damn cute. I'm kind of sad that I have to return to work tomorrow.

I'm sorry to hear R didn't get an offer :( S is going through the exact same thing, the whole not feeling "wanted". At least R seems to have plenty of opportunities though, so one is bound to pay off soon. Keep in mind (even though its hard) that its only been 2 months and that the average time its taking to find jobs nowadays is 6 months. I know that's not terribly encouraging, but it does help put things into perspective.

Also I didn't know they gave rotovirus immunizations now! I wish my little cousin would have gotten one 3 years ago when he got 12 people in our family (including me!!!) sick with that nasty virus!

Has R looked nationwide for jobs? I cannot remember what kind of job he is looking for or I'd keep my eye out around here :).
