Baby M is 3!!!!

So he's totally not a baby anymore. I'm going to have to come up with new ways to refer to my children because Baby M and Little man just don't fit, lol. We had a great day today. His party was last Sunday and of course he chose Light.ning McQ.ueen for his theme :) Today we went to the park, went to an indoor play place, and opened some more presents. We let the kids pretty much do that they would like for their birthdays so of course we had Happ.y Mea.ls for lunch and played a lot of games and stayed up late! Here is a cute picture of Baby M from his birthday. On Sunday we get to go to my grandpa's 90th birthday so we're pretty excited about that!!!! I feel so blessed to have my grandparents still alive and that my children get to know their great grandparents. It's not the norm these days for that to happen!!!!

The Big 3-0 (Long overdue)

So last Wednesday, St. Patrick's Day I turned 30. I don't feel like an old woman but when I say it out loud it seems so old. It was by far my most favorite birthday because of my huge birthday surprise which was orchestrated by my wonderful and amazing hubby. I was convinced that we wouldn't be going anywhere. I took him to Chicago for his 30th birthday but funds are tight and my mom's teaching semester just started so needless to say taking time off wasn't really realistic. However, he managed to work everything out.

I got a call at 3:50 pm on my birthday and it was him saying that they were going to be in the parking lot in about 10 minutes. I hurried and packed everything up and checked in with my boss who was in on the whole thing. My mom, the boys and R were out in the parking lot. We hugged and they wished me happy birthday and then R whisked me off to the airport........We were going to F.t. La.uderdale, my old home!!!!!!!

We spent three wonderful nights and two whole days back home, or at least it sure feels that way when we go back. It was amazing because we got to go to all our favorite places, mostly. The weather was just okay but I wasn't complaining. We were kid free and I got two days off from work. It was just what the dr. ordered because work has been insane lately.

We arrived late Wednesday night and just went to my uncle's house and went to bed. We had my uncle's house to ourselves because he's always at his "partner's" house and his house is like a 5 star hotel. We got up and went to breakfast on the beach Thursday morning and then went to my FAVORITE mall in the whole world. It had been forever since I'd really been shopping at a nice mall. I found some sweet deals on clothes that were on super sale. We got to eat lunch at my FAVORITE fast food restaurant Chick-F.il- A, OMG I LOVE, LOVE that place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That night my uncle and his partner came over and we went to dinner at my absolute most favorite restaurant in Sou.th F.L., it's called Hou.stons. It was a great dinner and it was so nice to spend time with my uncle and N. We called it a night after dinner and went to bed.

On Friday we woke up and put on our running gear and drove the 30 minutes to our old town that we lived in for two years. We ran our old running route, at breakfast at Ein.stein's, my most favorite bagel joint :) and then walked all around town taking pictures of everything. It hadn't changed too much and I can honestly say that I missed it so much!!!!!!

We came back and soaked up some rays because it was pretty nice on Friday. That night we met my best friend, J at the basketball game watch for our wonderful college. We belonged to the Sou.th F.L Alumni club when we lived down there so we knew a lot of people and it was a central location to meet J. We had a great time, they won, and I got to spend time with my bestest friend!!!!!!! We headed home afterwards and then hit the sack because we had to be at the airport early the next morning.

It was the best birthday ever!!!!! I love my husband so much!

Weekend Update

This weekend seemed to go so fast! On Friday I took the day off from work so we could go to my parent's for the weekend. I wanted to get pictures taken of the boys on our way up so we could have them to give to people at Little man's party. I made the appt. for pictures at 10:20am, which was hell to get packed and out the door in time to make it to the appt. I had good reasons for making it early but I didn't do such a hot job of getting everything packed up the night before. Instead, I woke up at 6am on my day off to get everything around. We got to my parent's house around 2:30 after eating lunch and making the drive.

Saturday my mom and I had a baby shower to go to so that took up the middle of the day. Baby M slept so bad on Friday night so I was a zombie on Saturday. After the shower we just hung around, ordered pizza and then decorated Little man's cake. He had a Wa.ll.-E birthday cake and it turned out soooo cute.

Today was his party and it went great. My mom made pulled pork sandwiches, had veggies and dip and chips and then my aunt brought macaroni salad. R's parents made the drive so it was nice to see them and for them to see the kids. It has been pretty much 6 months since they had seen Baby M and then 5 months since they'd seen Little man. We stayed until 4:30pm and then drove home in terrible downpouring rain. It's so gross here in MI right now! I cannot wait for things to green up and all the ugly brown to be gone.

So we're now short one car due to my dad's wreck :( I no longer have a car so R is going to have to drive me to work and pick me up, which is going to be a huge pain in the butt. The car I was driving was my parent's car. They had extra cars and they graciously let me borrow that car so that I would have transportation for dr's appts when I was preggo or for work when I started subbing. I'm really hoping that my dad finds another car soon so I can have it back because well it was fine not having a car when I was just staying at home with Little man, it's definitely going to be an inconvenience now. I can drive our car if Little man doesn't have preschool or anything going on. Tomorrow the boys have dr's appts so I will have to be driven to work and I'll need to either find a ride home or walk the 2 1/2 miles because their appt's won't be done in time to pick me up. The icing on the cake.......R got the letter stating that an average person would not have resigned in his situation so of course they denied his unemployment. I'm just so mad because we deserve that money after they way they treated him and it's $4300 which would help us out sooooo much right now!

Happy Birthday Little Man

Dear Little Man,
I absolutely cannot believe that 4 years ago today you were brought into the world! Becoming a mother was by far the best thing that's ever happened to me and I'm so proud of the child you have blossomed into.
You literally crack us up everyday. Within the past couple weeks you have developed your personality and sense of humor. It's so fun to watch you grow and see all the new things you have learned in such a short time.
Your birthday was so much fun and I think it will be memorable for you. You got to spend the morning playing with your favorite man in the world, daddy, at the indoor playplace. We opened presents through out the day so that you would have tons of time to play with each gift. You loved your Spu.d Troo.per Mr. Pota.to He.ad Sta.r War.s Sto.rm Troo.per. We played down at E and K's this afternoon and then went to a very fun dinner where you got to play in the arcade. Finally, we ended at Col.dstone where you got to have your free birthday creation. When we got home you got to open your last two gifts which were from Mommy and Daddy. You LOVED the roller blades and of course were excited about your Bara.ck O.bama book.
On Sunday you will have your birthday party at Grand.ma and Gran.dpa's with the family. Gran.dma is going to make your Wal.l-E cake. Grand.ma L and Grand.pa B are going to come and that will be fun since you haven't seen them since Oc.tober. I hope your 4th birthday will be a memorable and special one for you. We love you so much Little man!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you tons!!!! Oh and let's not forget that it's Baby M's 6 month (1/2 birthday) how he's grown too!!!!!!

It's Been a Long Week!

Here's what's been going on in my world....

  • I subbed everyday this week so naturally I'm dead tired tonight! I had three days at the high school and two at the elementary schools. I believe this was the first week since coming back from Christmas break that I've subbed all 5 days! My mom came down on Monday and left today but R was only able to get a sub job on Wednesday.
  • We're all getting over being sick. R didn't work on Tuesday because he was still feeling like crap. I woke up yesterday morning with my nose completely stuffed and today wasn't much better. I'm sneezing and still can only breathe through my mouth. I am also experiencing dry mouth and watery eyes. Hopefully I'll be better by the end of the weekend.
  • My mom's 55th birthday was yesterday. We had a delicious cake from Col.dstone and had a small little party. We burned her a CD for her gift and I got her a really nice card.
  • On my mom's birthday my dad got in a car accident on his way home from work and totaled his car. An old man and woman stopped at the stop sign and "didn't see him" and gunned it across the road T-boning him in the passenger side of the car. He was almost pushed into a house, he's okay though. My aunt takes the same way home from work and came upon the accident shortly after it happened so she stayed with my dad until the cops were done and then took him home. There happened to be an "off duty" cop that witnessed the whole thing so regardless it wasn't his fault, just sucks it happened, and on my mom's birthday no less.
  • Little man's birthday is Monday. I can't believe he's going to be 4 years old! We are taking him out to dinner and to Col.dstone for dessert, but his party isn't until next weekend. My mom is making him a Wa.ll-E cake and hopefully R's parents won't flake out and cancel coming. As it is R's sister (who mind you hasn't seen Baby M once since he was born) is not attending because they'll be in FL for vacation.
  • R is going to a job fair in In.dianapolis the second week in March. They are do on the spot interviews and all the companies are well known and very prestigious. He still hasn't gotten word on anything else.

Well I just wanted to do a quick update because I'm off to bed to rest and try to get better. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

What We've Been Up To

I feels like forever since I've blogged and so much has gone on since the last post. I'm going to attempt to catch you up on our busy lives.
  • My cousin's wedding was last weekend and it went very well. R and I had MUCH MORE responsibility than we realized and were pretty much the wedding/reception managers so we were dead by the end. I thought we were just going to be passing out programs and bubbles but as it turns out we were coordinating when everyone went down the aisle, pinning corsages and boutonnieres on the important people, paying the DJ and cake lady, dropping off my cousin's dress and taking a bunch of other things to the reception site, saying 10 million times, "please sign the guest book, the table to your left if for cards and presents, drinks are inside, appetizers are outside." and the list goes on and on!!!!!!!!!!! It sure was an experience, but we had fun. I think R and I could start a business after our experience :o)
  • On Sunday we figured out that Little man gets carsick. About 2 months ago we had fed him dinner in the car on the way to my parents house and as soon as we got here after driving about an hour he threw up all over. I wasn't sure if he was coming down with something or if it was in fact car sickness. On our way home Sunday we stopped for lunch and continued driving for about an hour to go to a birthday party. About 5 minutes from our destination he threw up all over himself and his car seat. He definitely won't be eating and then riding in the car for an extended period of time again. We also now have a vomit bag next to him, "just in case."
  • The birthday party was okay. It was my best friend K's daughter's first birthday. First birthdays are always hard because the kid has no idea what's going on and it's more for the adults anyway. We stayed for food and cake and then headed home after a long fun filled weekend.
  • We attended our first of two refresher childbirth classes and we were actually practicing the lamaze breathing "hee, hee, hee, who" That part was a bit much. I wanted to attend the class because it includes a lot of information about the hospital and what they have to offer and we get a tour next week so I figured it would be worth our time. We did practice a lot of different relaxation techniques and things we could use to relax so that part was interesting. R and I need to seriously get refresh our memory with the Brad.ley method so we can incorporate that this time. A refresher course for that was just impossible because it's too lengthy and far away.
  • R left for Pittsburgh on Tuesday morning. I drove him to a coworker's house at 5:30am so he could ride to the airport with her. My mom came home with us from the wedding weekend so she could watch Little man while we went to the refresher course and then we came back to my parent's house because I didn't want to be alone all week since R is gone and I have to get my dress for the wedding I'm in altered. We have a woman that is really cheap and does a really good job. Rather than finding some unknown person around me and paying an arm and a leg, this worked out since we were going to be here.
  • I finished my last class yesterday. I do have a few revisions to make and I have to tie up some loose ends, but for the most part I am DONE with my master's degree!!!!!!!!!!!! It feels very nice!
  • My mom is beginning to get on my nerves. It's weird because usually that doesn't happen but today she's been very opinionated and preachy. She's always complaining about the price of gas and the nearest bigger city (by bigger I mean it has a Wal.mart and Tar.get) is about 30 minutes away. Since we were in town I decided that we better hit all the places that we both needed to go because it would be a waste to drive up there anytime soon with gas prices at $4.25 a gallon. It was getting late (near Little man's nap time) and she needed to get a baby gift for her niece so I said "let's just stop at J.C. Penn.ey's since we are in town." She argued that Little man had gone too many places already but I knew he was going to have to go to the bathroom and we had ate lunch not long before so I wanted to stop to kill a little time and use the bathroom. She argued with me but went anyway. Then she picked out several outfits, couldn't decide what to buy, and put them all back, walking out with nothing. For someone who is always complaining about the price of gas and not wasting it, I was pissed that she didn't just pick out a couple cute ones and call it good. Everything was on sale and there were a million cute outfits, but she couldn't decide.

Well I'm sure there is much more that I forgot to write about but I'm sure I've bored you to death with our recent events so I'll write more another time.

Chicago Details

This is going to be an extremely detailed post because I just have to remember every little thing we did and place we went. I collected a lot of memorabilia in hopes that I can make a scrapbook of R's 30th birthday so all the ticket stubs, and pictures have a place, rather than getting lost in a box somewhere. So I'm warning you this is going to be long :)

Thursday, June 5th 2008-
My mom arrived around 4:30 and I scrambled around to get the last of our things packed and snacks around for the car ride. He got home around 5:40pm and the minute he walked in the door I handed him the card. He was confused and opened it and then became more confused. He asked if this was a joke and how we were going to pay for it and I just kept telling him that I'll explain everything in the car but at that minute he needed to get changed and we needed to get going. I loaded everything into the car, we kissed Little man good bye, and departed around 6pm. We got gas right away and then got on the road for our 3 1/2 hour drive to Indi.ana. The one nice thing about driving to Indi.ana was that the time changed so we "gained" an hour. We got to my cousin's house at 8:30pm, got the house tour, and then went to dinner. We were pretty tired when we got home and were going to have to get up really early the next morning so we visited with my future cousin in law and then went to bed.

Friday, June 6th 2008- R's 30th Birthday!- We got up at 5:30am and got ready to leave by 6:20am. Our train left at 6:43am and then we had an hour and 40 minute ride to Chica.go. We were in the city by 8:30am so we had the whole day to spend. Our first stop was the delicious Corn.er Bak.ery for breakfast. We ate and then headed up to my counsin's office where we were going to leave our suitcase for the day. She ended up having a task to deal with so R and I went to go get his haircut and then went back to get her. We shopped the Mirac.le Mi.le all morning going into all my favorite stores and ended up having lunch at Elepha.nt and Cas.tle. This was the only time it rained all day! How lucky did we get that it only rained while we were eating lunch? It was SUPER windy all day so I was constantly holding my skirt down, haha.

After lunch we headed back down the other side of the Mira.cle Mi.le and then found a free museum to go and visit. It was all about the first amendment and it was very cool because it was very interactive and had some very interesting exhibits. From there we went back to my cousin's office and retrieved our suitcase so we could go check in at our hotel. We decided that once we checked in we would relax, nap, and shower off since it was soooooo hot. After our nap and shower we got ready to go to dinner. I purposely didn't pack a blow dryer because we've stayed at the Hya.tt Regenc.y before and they had them in the room, however, this room didn't have one, so we had to wait for one to be brought up. We walked down the Mira.cle Mi.le again to Cheese.cake Fact.ory and had a very yummy dinner. For an appetizer we had sweet corn tamale cakes, I had a salad for dinner so I wouldn't get too filled up and R had Steak Diane, and then we each had a slice of cheesecake for dessert. I had chocolate coconut creme and he had pistachio. We needed a serious walk after that, which we got because we walked all the way to Na.vy Pi.er.

At Na.vy Pi.er we played minature golf underneath the big ferris wheel (I beat R!), walked around the shops, and ended at the beer garden for live entertainment and drinks (I had water). The band was pretty good and it was such a beautiful night weather wise! We stayed until about 10:30 and then headed back to the hotel. Our first day we clocked around 7-8 miles of walking. We were exhausted when we got back and had a wonderful nights sleep.

Saturday, June 7th, 2008-
We woke up, showered and headed out for some breakfast. We explored Stat.e Street and ended up at a Sta.rbucks for a yummy breakfast. We ended up venturing over to the S.ears To.wer and we had 30 minutes until it opened so we hit up an ATM and then went back. They actually started letting people in about 15 minutes early so we were the first ones to go up. Neither of us had ever been there before and it was an awesome view of the city. The elevator ride up 103 floors packed in like sardines was a little nerve racking but it was a lot of fun. When we came down there were so many people waiting it was unbelievable so we were glad we got there when we did. If there would have been a line we would have never gone because we had to check out of our hotel by 12pm.

We walked back to the hotel, checked out, put our suitcase in luggage check, and headed to ESP.N ZO.NE for lunch. It was a pretty cool place and the food was great! I really wanted deep dish pizza at our favorite restaurant but I let R pick the restaurant since it was his birthday weekend. After lunch we headed to the Ch.icago Ar.t Instit.ute where we got in FREE because we had Ban.k of Am.erica cards (special promotion at museums the first weekend of every month). We walked around and looked at art for a couple hours and then headed back to retrieve our suit case. From there we headed to the train station and had a little snack and then got on the 4pm train for our 1 hour and 40 minute ride back to our car.

It rained pretty hard at one point while we were on the train but then by the time we got back to the car there was no rain in sight. We then had a 3 1/2 hour drive home, which kind of sucked but we stopped at Pi.zza Hu.t for dinner along the way and ended up getting home around 11:30pm. Wow what a fun filled two days. R definitely had the best birthday ever and I think we will always remember our special 30th birthday trip to Chica.go. For as much as it was his birthday trip I also got to reap the benefits.

OH MY GOSH!!!!

I don't have time for a long update but I promise that will come, but we had the most amazing time in Chicago and R was SOOOOOOO surprised. Things went PERFECTLY! I tried not to have expectations or ideas in my head about how things would go, but I did have a little idea of how I was hoping things would play out, and things went EXACTLY the way I had imagined or even better. It actually worked out perfect that the trip was cut short because it was exactly enough time to do tons of things without spending TOO much or getting TOO worn out. We walked a total of almost 13 miles and we had the time of our life. I think I'm up for the "Wife of the Year" award, haha.

Surprises Never Get Old!

Even though I'm 28 years old I still crave surprises on my birthday. I love my birthday to be out of the ordinary or something special. I hate the fact that when I get older it's harder and harder to make them feel that way, but still my family manages. My mom drove in the drive way at 10am yesterday to surprise me and I was soooooo excited!!!!! She came bearing a million gifts, okay it seemed that way, and took Little man and me to lunch, and then to buy an ice cream cake. It was such a surprise and it made my birthday so special. R made me the BEST dinner and bought the sweetest card. For my present he bought me a day at this conference for women that I really wanted to go to, so I already knew what my present was. Overall, it was a great day and I couldn't have asked for a better birthday. It's really funny though, how at 28 years old I still want to feel like I did when I was a kid and it was my birthday. I'm glad I have such a great husband, son, and family that they never overlook or make my birthday seem like just another day.

Friday Already!!???

The weeks just fly by I swear, it seems like it was just Monday. I'm looking forward to this weekend just because we had such a busy weekend last weekend that this weekend will be nice and relaxing. (Wow, how many times can I say weekend in one sentence, lol) Although, we do lose one hour of this lovely weekend so that's a little disappointing. Don't forget to move your clocks ahead one hour if you are in a place that honors daylight savings time.

Little man and I had a nice day yesterday because it was actually half way descent weather (and by that I mean that at least it wasn't 30 degrees and snowing). The temps were in the upper 40's and sunny. We took a great wagon ride through the neighborhood, which by the way, he loves his new wagon and then used his new outdoor art kit that he got for his birthday. There is still snow on the ground but all we needed was a dry clear driveway, which we had, so we had fun painting and drawing with sidewalk chalk. While we were out the neighbor A who I haven't met before came down and introduced herself. She was so nice and she has three boys, 2, 5, and 7. I'm hoping that maybe we can start playdates with her. Her son is a year younger than Little man but they should be able to play together. (wishful thinking probably) I think once spring/summer arrives we are going to meet many more neighbors and feel like we are more part of a neighborhood. Everyone definitely hibernates during the cold winter months.

I leave you with a picture of his birthday cake. It just turned out so cute I have to share this with you :o)

Three Years Old!!!!

I absolutely cannot believe that it's been three years since Little man was born. We had the most awesome birthday party for him yesterday with over 30 people in attendance! He had such a good time and R and I were so happy that it went so well. It was also a chance for people to see our new house since we haven't had many visitors since we moved in. The party started at 3pm and we did presents, then cake and ice cream, followed by dinner. I decided on a mexican theme which I have to thank Chas for, she recommended the dip that sparked my decision on a food theme. We had that cheese dip, another mexican dip, taco dip, and then tacos and nachos. We had a C.ars theme since Little man is obsessed with the movie. I found plates, napkins, cups, table cloths, and party favors that all matched. My mom made the best, Li.ghting Mc.Queen cake that was all decorated and then cupcakes to go along with the cake because it wasn't that big. Overall, it was a great time! I wish it was warm in March because it would have been really nice to have the outside available as well because it was a lot people.

I'll try to post some pictures as people e-mail them to me.

Waiting for the Warm Weather!!!!

Well we are slated to get more snow this week, tomorrow night and Thursday night. I'm so ready for spring to come and my body is also very ready! I weighed in at the dr on Thursday and I was 8 pounds heavier (that was with clothes and shoes so not completely accurate) from six weeks ago. I'm almost done with my first trimester though so my dr was happy with the amount of weight I had gained, but I feel like the weight is packing on quick because I can't exercise as much as I would like. I'm loving being at my parents house because they have a treadmill so I'm able to walk a couple miles with an incline and actually get some exercise! They also have a VCR so I'm able to do my favorite Den.ise Aust.in Pilate.s video. We got rid of our VCR because Little man shoved something in it and broke it, when I tried to buy a new one I quickly found that they don't make them anymore without DVD players included which made it way more expensive than what I wanted to spend.

It's my mom's birthday on Tuesday though so I've been eating like crap because we went out to birthday dinner last night and then I'm sure we'll have cake and ice cream on Tuesday. R's parents are coming tomorrow and they want to take us out to lunch so that's another meal we are going to be eating out. I miss our healthy food that we have at home. R and I don't keep much processed food in the house, mainly because they are so expensive compared to fresh, healthy food. Little man's birthday is coming up this weekend too so his party with cake and ice cream and snacks will be on Saturday which will be more junk. Last but not least my birthday is 2 weeks after his. It's like another holiday season here around this time. I think it's harder when I'm pregnant because I can't overeat, gain a pound or two, and just work it off in the coming weeks. Once the weight goes on it stays so I have to be very careful.

Mini Vacation

Little man and I came home with my mom today for a little change of pace from our daily routine. I, of course waited to pack until this morning and thought I had done really well, that is until I got here and realized that I forgot my whole toiletry case!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I have no toothbrush, make up, glasses, shower supplies, etc..... It's weird how something like that can make you feel like your little vacation is ruined. I know I can buy the things I need but I definitely don't have the money for that and I even went back into the bathroom and grabbed my hair straightener, totally missing that my toiletry bag was sitting RIGHT NEXT TO it :o( That's why I am a list person!!!!!

Little man was so excited to come to grandma and grandpa's house. He has been talking about it since last week and loves being here so that's really cute to see! I'm going to miss R a lot, especially since we haven't had much time together in the past couple weeks. He's been sick and working late and I've been tutoring a lot and my mom was at the house. I'm hoping this little break will do us some good and then when we return things will be back to normal. The only thing I'm worried about it is Little man's third birthday party, which is March 1st, the day before his birthday. I tend to get stressed out before big events and especially since we are going to be at my parent's until the Thursday before the party I'm feeling a little pressed for time. I'm going to spend time this week planning the menu and trying to make things as easy and hassle free as possible. Does anyone have any good ideas for simple food that will feed around 30 people? I want a happy medium in between just ordering pizza and something that will require a lot of prep time. I'm thinking something crock pot or something that can just been thrown together. The party is at 3pm so I'm looking for munchie ideas and then something that people can have as their dinner. I let R off the hook on this one because he's been sick and had some health tests and just been kinda overwhelmed, not to mention he works late the Thursday we get back.
