Update

So hubby had the meeting with his boss and it's a no go for benefits through Oct. and apparently he'll only be able to get about 75% of his monthly pay for Sept. So not the news I was hoping for but things could be worse. He still gets to attend a conference at the end of Oct. that he was asked to present at in Denver so he's excited about that. It will be just one more impressive thing to add to his resume, so that will be nice. Hopefully we won't be homeless by then!
