Piece of Cake!
So I was nervous today about subbing in the resource room. After talking with the sub yesterday, seeing her evaluation from yesterday, and hearing the classroom teacher and classroom aide prepare me for what the day was going to be like today, I was really regretting taking this job. If there is one thing that I have no desire to ever teach, it's special education. It's just not my cup of tea and I don't have the never ending patience and love that it takes. I debated about whether or not to accept today's job but went against my gut feeling and accepted because we need the money. In the end I have to say that I'm so glad that I did because the kids were great. I kept getting warned about their behavior but didn't have a single behavior problem. Today reminded me why I love teaching so much. There isn't a better feeling in the world to end the day feeling like you kicked butt and were awesome. If there is one aspect of teaching that I have a handle on, it's behavior management. I taught in some rough schools and had some VERY rough kids so it's one of my strong points and I was really able to control the kids and engage them in their learning activities. I felt like I was on top of the world when I got done. The best remark came from the para pro who said she's never seen the 4th hour group of kids be as good as they were today, not even for their regular teacher.
Today was especially long though because I didn't get a break until lunch time. I had to sub for another teacher during my prep hour. By the time lunch rolled around I felt like I was about ready to burst because I hadn't pumped or fed Baby M since 6:30 am and lunch was at 11:30am. I ate lunch in my car so that I could pump the whole time. It ended up working out fine and I'll just have to be sure to pump more and drink plenty of water in the coming days so my milk supply doesn't go down. R goes to Denve.r next week so I won't be subbing. Tomorrow I'm subbing in the afternoon so I won't have to be at the school until 10:30am. I talked with the teacher today for whom I'm subbing for and she has 5th hour prep and then I'll also get 30 minutes for lunch after I get there so it will be an easy day.
I just want to mention how incredibly awesome R is doing at the stay at home parent thing. It's so hard to transition from working to being a stay at home parent and he's doing awesome. I came home today and the kitchen was clean and he was reading and rocking Baby M. I'm actually liking the reversal of the roles because I forgot what it was like to work. I do enjoy getting back into schools and going to work in the morning. The feeling of earning the money for the family is empowering too, I got my first check today. I ended up with $158.40 for two days of subbing. R still isn't sure if he's going to get unemployment or not but he called today so we'll see if he gets any money.
Well I'm off to bed, finally at a descent hour.

Update
So hubby had the meeting with his boss and it's a no go for benefits through Oct. and apparently he'll only be able to get about 75% of his monthly pay for Sept. So not the news I was hoping for but things could be worse. He still gets to attend a conference at the end of Oct. that he was asked to present at in Denver so he's excited about that. It will be just one more impressive thing to add to his resume, so that will be nice. Hopefully we won't be homeless by then!

Friday
I can't believe that it's already Friday! I've certainly got a lot done this week and have more tasks on my "to do" list today. I haven't been feeling any different. The ending of this pregnancy feels like when you are single and desperately looking for a boyfriend because you've been single way too long and everyone around you has a significant other. So not everyone around me has a new baby but the connection feels like I felt my senior year of college.
I know I sound desperate but let me fill you in on the ending of my college years. I had a long distance boyfriend when I went away to college, J and he was from a small town near mine. We met after graduation despite me wanting to "go to college single." I was an 18 year old girl that was flattered that a cute boy showed interest and it gave me something to do the summer before I went away to school. I started the relationship with full intention to break it off before I left but yeah right, who can do that. So we dated until mid way through my sophomore year when things were just not going well and we broke up, later to begin dating again the summer after my sophomore year. I'm guessing we were both lonely and dating again seemed like a good idea at the time, but surprise, surprise it wasn't a good idea and it didn't last. So a few months into my junior year we broke up for good.
I was single for the rest of my junior year and all of my senior year well into the fall of my teaching internship, so total about 2 years. Now that's a long time when you are a needy girl seeking a guy for support. You start asking yourself "what's wrong with me?" etc.... Well looking back I had serious guy issues from the fact that my father sucked as a dad, I was drinking WAY too much (which I'm sure was attractive to men, yeah right), and I was thinking and obsessing about it ALL THE TIME. My friends told me over and over "It will happen when you least expect it" and to calm down and stop seeking it out. I dated a few guys here and there but nothing that developed in a boyfriend. I spent so much time obsessing and trying to "get a guy" that I feel like I missed out on a lot, but hey hindsight is 20/20.
That's the way this pregnancy feels. I'm obsessing about it so much and I know that I just need to chill out and enjoy the time and be patient. Which can I just say I was totally planning on doing prior to R losing his job. I actually love being pregnant and prior to that incident I was totally cool with being patient and going over due. I didn't have anything to lose and I deeply want this baby to come on it's own anyway. Now I feel like there's some timeline, which is my own fault because I'm putting myself on an imaginary timeline. I really want my 6 week check up to be covered by insurance so I keep telling myself that if I have this baby soon then there won't be an issue and it will be covered. When in all actuality who cares. The birth will be covered and we'll just cross the 6 week check up bridge when we come to it and work something out. R actually has a meeting with his boss in a few hours and that's when they finalize the details. Pray for insurance through October!!!!!!! In the mean time I'm going to chill out and focus on my tasks and let this baby decide when he's going to arrive.
Oh and back to the boyfriend thing, my friends were right. It did happen when I least expected it to, a tailgate Saturday in October of 2002 in a bar. It was raining and miserable outside that day but as die hard football/tailgating fans my friends and I were out there at the break of dawn to start drinking and hanging out having a good time. By mid morning we were cold and soaked so I went back to my apartment and met my friend D who came into town. We decided to go to a bar downtown, mind you I looked like hell because I was in a baggy sweatshirt and had been soaked so my hair was really not looking great. The bar was crazy but my friends were there so we stood by them and had a few drinks. Shortly a bar stool right next to them opened up so D went to take it just as my now husband R went to take the same stool. R was with his friend and the four of us started a conversation. My friends ended up leaving and D and I went with R and his friend to another bar and then out for pizza. They walked us back to my apartment and he asked for my phone number. He called the next day and the rest is history........

Still Here
I'm very curious to if I'm going to make it until my next appointment next Monday???? I've been having contractions in spurts here and there but nothing that intensifies or is timable. I just keep hoping that my water will break or that the contractions will just get stronger so that I'll know this baby is ready to come on his own. If I go to the dr on Monday he already told me that he would induce me by breaking my water at 39 weeks, which is next Tuesday. Normally, I would say "no thanks, we'll wait it out" but given our circumstance I don't think I would hold out. I don't think my 6 week check up is going to end up falling in September but it would be really nice if this baby ended up coming soon so there is a possibility that I could get the appointment in before insurance runs out.
I finally got medicine for my UT.I yesterday around 12pm so I took it right away. It's twice per day so I took it at 11pm last night and will keep adjusting it by an hour until I get on an 9am and 9pm schedule because I don't really feel like staying up until 11pm or 12am to take a pill. I'm feeling better though so that's really nice! I really hate drama at the end of pregnancies, it happened with Little man too. I have perfect, no drama pregnancies and then at the end all hell breaks loose. I'm praying for a smooth and uneventful next week or so (however long it is). Tomorrow afternoon I'm supposed to call the dr. to see what the results were from the urine culture so they can be sure the meds I'm on will take care of the problem or if there happens to be nothing I can discontinue taking them.
Had a rough night last night. I learned that R maybe isn't able to talk extensively about the job he's leaving at this point. We talked a great deal about how messed up his work place is on our walk and were having really great conversation. I really think after our talk that he's lucky he's leaving, but then afterwards he was weird. He was over reactive about weird things and just seemed "on edge" for the rest of the night. I guess one thing I'm scared about is the role I'm supposed to play in all of this. I've definitely gotten over being sad and crying. I know that I have to stay strong and supportive but I don't know how to act. We had another conversation about jobs over IM this morning and I was taking the neutral type stance where I would offer pros and cons and food for though about what he was saying, not being judgemental in any way, but then he said I was being judgemental. I guess I'm going to try to just take to listening and nodding my head. I'm not sure what role he expects me to play throughout this whole process. I've never been in this situation before so I have no idea what to do or what he needs. Have any of you ever been in this type of situation before? What did you do, say, how did you act, what did your significant other find especially helpful? I want to keep this experience a positive one for R and myself.
I have another long "to do" list today so I'd better get some breakfast and start tackling my tasks. The main one that I want to finish is hospital packing! Have a great day!

Appointment, Our Week, and Anniversary
I had my 32 week OB appt. today and now I will be going every two weeks! Everything went good, I had gained 2 pounds, my BP was 112/68, and the heartbeat was great. It was the first time that I was called back the minute I sat down in the waiting room and the dr. was actually waiting for the nurse to get done with my weight and BP so he could check me. I was in and out in 15 minutes!!!! My next appt was scheduled for July 23rd with the nurse practitioner, but I called to change it because I didn't realize until I got home that it wasn't with a dr. I went to the NP one time and refuse to see her again because she was a bi*ch! She wasn't nice and was rude to Little man, just a terrible bed side manner. I'm waiting for them to call back so I can get a new appt. with one of the dr's. I also don't want to see her because I have to get copies of my prenatals for our trip to Mary.land and I have questions for the dr. about our trip. I'll be almost 36 weeks so I think I want to just have some dr. advice before we go.
The week has flown by, tomorrow we have another weekend trip to embark upon. My cousin is getting married 3 hours away and R and I are host and hostess for the wedding. We have the rehearsal and dinner tomorrow night, wedding on Friday night, and then a beach party on Saturday. I feel like I haven't gotten a chance to recover from last weekend and it's already time to go away again. I have so much to do and it's been a busy week. Tonight is the first night this week we haven't had something going on so I'm trying to finish the laundry, getting the packing list finalized, start packing, and finish up some assignments for my last class. I'm really looking forward to tonight because R is going to be gone to a baseball game until late so I can concentrate on everything without having to worry about dinner and spending time with him.
Today is our anniversary but we celebrated by going out to dinner last week so we're just exchanging cards today. I didn't mind that he got asked to go to the baseball game today because I have so much to do that I needed an evening on my own to just get everything done. I still have Little man but I hope to have him in bed by 8pm so I can finish my school work and move on to packing and getting ready to leave tomorrow afternoon. I'd better go be productive!

Thanksgiving and Microwave
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving!!! Hannah needs our prayers as her Thanksgiving was not very nice :o( We went down to my aunt's house in Ft. Wayne and had a nice time, though I think the older I get the less I enjoy traveling for the holidays. There is something to be said for just staying home and having people come to you. Hopefully on Christmas day that will be the plan. We stayed for two nights and I did get to hit up some Black Friday shopping at a mall near my aunt's house.
My handy husband put in our new above the stove microwave today!!!!!! It looks very nice and as sad as it sounds I'm very happy to have a microwave again. The people that moved out of our house decided to take the microwave with them even though it was supposed to stay!! We got a great deal on this microwave so I'm hoping that it will last a long time!!! I popped some popcorn in it earlier and it shut off part way through but I'm still figuring out how to use it so I'm hoping it was something I did, and not a problem with the microwave.
I guess this may be typical but we're finding more and more little things that are wrong with the house. For example, the garage door sensors are not where they are supposed to be, instead they are just thrown on the ceiling of the garage to be out of the way. Since our house is in a big subdivision with tons of other houses like ours the builders cut corners and half a$$ed things where ever they could. It's getting apparent now that we've been in the house for nearing a month. Another example is that there were large holes in the wall behind the hood that was over the stove. The person just kept putting holes in the wall until he got the wire where it needed to be. R had to replace the drywall to put up the microwave. I'm just praying that too many things don't start going wrong. The other thing we are having to deal with is screw ups my friend's husband made while attempting home improvement projects. He tried to put up recessed lighting in Little Man's room and totally did it wrong so he finally just gave up and left the project unfinished. R is having a fit trying to finish the project.
I'm getting really ansty to get this house in order and unpacked with things all put in their places. It's much tougher than it seems because we have such little time to totally devote to just that. I'm home with Little man all day but it doesn't leave me with too much time to get things organized. I did a lot last week when he was with my parents, but there is so much more to do. The main reason why things are taking longer than we would like it due to money. We need bookshelves, curtains, and tons of other little things. I know they will come with time but it makes it hard to complete the unpacking and organizing when things don't look complete or we don't have the things that we need. All in good time though!
Now it's almost time for Christmas decorating!!!! I bought everything that I needed to complete my festive mantle arrangement and it looks so good. One thing at a time :o)

Keeping My Head Up
Well I'm out of my funk, this is going to sound crazy, but I think it was because R was gone that I was so crabby. As soon as he got home my mood perked up and I have felt much better! It could also have been not working out much last week. I got another rejection letter yesterday from the dream school district. I actually had a connection with this one so that's not a good sign. I had a guy (former principal and high up on the totem pole) personally call the HR director and talk to her about me and then he told me to forward all my materials and that didn't even work. OH WELL!!! I just sent off three more packets for jobs all around the state on MI. I wouldn't want to live in any of the cities where the jobs are but maybe I could get an interview and get some practice or find a city that's worth living in that close to those cities. Well this post is going to be cut short because Little man is knocking on his door because he wants us to know he's ready to get up from his nap. Isn't that sooooo cute?
