Christmas in Pictures

Our Christmas Tree

Baby M opening his Santa present. He really wasn't the least bit interested in opening presents.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! I will be posting more soon since I have the next week off from work!

Staying

After thinking long and hard I decided that I was going to tell my principal that I wasn't interested in taking over for my coworker going on maternity leave. My plate is really full right now and I can't really add on too much more. She was understanding and I made it clear that I would love to help out but given my situation I just couldn't. She seemed cool about it and hopefully everything will work out.

I'm still not ready for Christmas. My mom was with me shopping this weekend so I couldn't buy for her. I tried to ask her what she wanted for Christmas by phrasing it "so did you give dad a list of the things that you wanted for Christmas?" and she replied, "I shouldn't have to give him a list all you have to do is pay attention throughout the year!" That was the problem with my mom growing up. She would file every little thing we said we wanted into her memory and then we'd end up with gifts that we no longer wanted because as kids you say you want 10 million different things in a given year. I'll never forget the sewing box I ended up with when I was in middle school. I'm sure on a random day when she was sewing I stupidly said I would be interested in a sewing box and she remembered. By the time I opened it I definitely didn't want a sewing box for a gift any more.

My main problem is that I forget....a lot!!! I swear I have a hard time remembering what I had for dinner on any given night. I chalk it up to being so busy and having a lot of things going on but in all reality my memory sucks. Now ask me all about my week at camp in 1992 and I can recall every single detail but I have holes for sure. So why am I bringing all this up???? I can't remember for the life of me things that my mom has mentioned wanting throughout this year. I take that back I do remember her saying she wanted a work out DVD but I'm not sure that's appropriate for a Christmas gift. I feel like that says workout, you're fat. I feel bad because I'm not really good at remembering things that she says she wants but damn I can't remember what I want let alone someone else whom I don't even live with.

This leads me back to the fact that I still have Christmas shopping to do and I'm not sure what to get her. I tried calling my brother to see what he got her but of course he didn't answer his phone. Oh well good thing I have a couple days to figure it out.

Reality

I know, I know I'm so bad about blogging now! Maybe it will be a New Year's resolution to try to post at least once or twice per week. I just go to thinking that maybe I need to stop blogging about our situation because I feel like after a year and a half that it's no longer a situation and more of our life or reality. So I think I just need to get over the fact that this is temporary and accept it as the way that things are. My favorite saying in the world is that "it could always be worse" which indeed is true so I just need to be thankful for what we have and build a bridge and get over it.

The holidays are totally sneaking up on me this year and I'm really not prepared. I'm looking forward to next Wednesday and Thursday though because I'll be able to spend both days preparing for the holiday and there's nothing more fun than spending the day getting excited for Christmas! I have about 1/3 of my shopping done and hopefully will be done after this weekend! I'm a little bummed because Little man decided that he wanted a set of Le.gos that is sold out EVERYWHERE! Oh well he really would be happy with any Le.go set so I'm not too worried.

I would like to thank Ally for the blog award! I'm so sorry that I didn't award it to others but times are definitely crazy! I really, really appreciate it though and I'm so glad that I have readers who like what I have to say. If I don't blog again before Christmas I hope everyone has a great holiday!

Christmas and Curtain

Our Christmas was nice. I made brunch in the morning, my mom, dad, and brother were here and we opened Santa presents Christmas morning and did all other presents the night before. R made a huge dinner in the afternoon on Christmas day and my grandma, grandpa, and two aunts came to join us and see the house. It was a nice day, but I'm exhausted!

So on to the curtain. Little man got cash from my grandparents and my aunt. I decided that I was going to buy a curtain for his room since we previously had a blanket hanging up in the window. I suppose I can't really call myself a decorator because I hate the curtain. I decided that since the walls were blue I didn't want a blue curtain. I decided to go with white since it would match the molding in the room and be a nice contrast with the blue. I wanted a special black out panel though because I like to keep the room dark at nap time and at night during the summer when he's going to be when it's still light out. I got the tab like curtains with a blackout panel (also white) to go behind it. R hung the curtain and I just don't like it. There is no way I'm taking it back because it would be way too much trouble since it's already hung. Hopefully it will grow on me and I'll begin to like it.

So we basically only have one day to relax since we tackled the mall today to buy little man's curtain, it was so busy! Friday we head up to R's parent's house for Christmas. I'm just really tired and ready to get back on our schedule. I like R being off but it always seems to throw off our schedule. Hosting people at our house was a lot of work and I've just been really tired. We're still trying to clean up from that and get everything back in order after the holiday.

Potty Training

So things are going pretty well with potty training. Today Little man went poop on the potty!!!!!! He did it once a long time ago and it was just a fluke because that was back in August and we haven't seen any since. We've got it to where he's wearing underwear all the time except nap and bedtime. He has just been going poop during nap when he has the pull up on but today he came running out of his room after nap saying "mommy poop is coming, poop is coming." So we ran to his potty and he actually went a little bit. R told him that if he poops in the potty he can play the Mario computer game with him before bed. We still have accident days but overall I think we are on track for being potty trained before his third birthday!!!!

I can't believe that Christmas is a week away! I'm very excited! We have Christmas at my grandparents house with all my aunts, uncles, and cousins this Sunday and then just our family present opening on Christmas eve. This is when we are going to open all but Santa gifts with just Little man, R and I. My parents and brother are coming Christmas day and we are doing the rest of the presents. Then on Friday we are going up to R's parents for Christmas up there. It's going to be a busy time! R and I decided that it wasn't worth trying to find a babysitter for New Year's eve, especially because you can never count on the weather being nice so we are going to do our typical stay in, make dinner, and snuggle on the couch watching the ball drop. It's sort of a tradition and I think I'm too old for NYE parties. I can bearly stay awake in my pj's at home to watch the ball drop, let alone drink heavily all night and then have a hangover the next day, no thanks.

I'm going to test on Friday to see if our first month's attempt at babymaking was successful or not. Some days I feel like I could be pregnant but other days I don't feel like I am. I'm certainly getting my hopes up and I'm sure that because of that it will take awhile. I would love to find out I am so I could wrap up a special gift for my grandparents announcing that their second great grandchild would be arriving in 2008, but we'll see if that works out or not. Then again, I don't want to announce too early just in case anything were to happen. I'm really bad at keeping secrets though and they would probably figure it out if I wasn't drinking, not that I'm a drunk, but we usually have a glass of wine with Christmas dinner, especially now that my cousin's fiance works for a beer distributor.

Ok, well I hope all of your pre Christmas preparations are going well!! I really wanted to get some baking done but it seems as though I'm running out of time so who knows if I'll get to that or not.
