Passed Over

I didn't get an interview for that job at the elementary school around the corner from my house. The conclusion was that I have my master's degree. Who would have known that an advanced degree (one I pretty much needed to renew my teaching certificate) would be the deciding factor on whether or not they were going to interview me? I guess the budget is strapped and they would have had to pay me too much, it's easier to hire someone cheap. Mind you, I am close with all the teachers, actually I was recruited for this job (by three of the teachers), I know all the kids and spent a great deal of time teaching these exact students last year, and was promised by the principal just 2 months ago that if a position ever came up I would "DEFINITELY get an interview."

I feel like crap and to make matters worse my actual job is becoming a bit of a pain in the ass. I really hate when a break in life is so very close but yet things don't work out. I am so sick of trying to figure out how I can work extra on my time off to make more money for our family. The newest low that I am sinking to, watching my boss's kids on Friday night from 6-11. Gee, do I really want to babysit for three kids after I've been up since 5:00am and worked all day, you guessed it, NOPE, but needless to say we're going to be short paying bills so making money on Friday night seems like a viable option for me, one that is pretty much necessary. It sucks and yes I'm having a bit of a pity party right now, I'm allowing myself today and then after today I'm going to perk back up and pick my head up to move on with life.

Kicking Butt and Taking Names

I was so productive this weekend! On Saturday I got up at 7am and was out the door to Pan.era by 8am to work on classwork. One of my classes is ending this week and I had so much work left to complete. In 3 hours I finished a discussion posting, responded to several classmates, finished two webpages, and wrote a reflective essay about my master's program. I continued to work all through Saturday getting more of my work done, but still feeling like I needed another block of time away to work.

Sunday I got up at 6am and was at Pan.era by 6:30am and worked until 8:45am. I got 4 article responses done along with part of my project. Again I continued to work throughout the day and at the end of the weekend I still have 6 articles responses to do, half of my assessment project and half of my assessment portfolio page to do. Though, I still have a lot to do I feel as though I'm definitely in a good place to wrap everything up and submit everything by Thursday.

The only bummer of this morning is that I woke up to find that my bagel from Pan.era that I was planning on eating became "bread" for my husband's sandwich. I am so disappointed :o( Goal for today: Get the article responses completed

Not So Fast

So my good friend K, just called, she was one of my old roommates that was supposed to be going to the wedding tomorrow. I blogged about how the four of us college roommates were finally going to be together again, and I spoke too soon. She cancelled and is not going because her daughter is sick. She's not so sick that they couldn't attend, but a little too sick to take along to the hotel and leave with her mom. I'm so disappointed, why can't anything ever work out? So I have no idea if the four of us will ever be in the same place at the same time ever again. My other friend D, is getting married in August, but K already said that they aren't going because the wedding is in Maryland and her and her husband don't want to travel that far with or without the baby (though she'll be one by then). I really hate getting so excited for something and then getting let down. I should know better than to get excited for anything because it's so much worse when things don't go as planned. I am usually the type that expects the worst so I can be excited when things do work out or things do go well. In addition, R and I got a hotel room only because K and her husband got one too, so now we have this room that we don't really need now because they aren't even going to be there now. I thought it would be fun to get one only if we knew someone else who was staying there because we could ride together and hang out before and afterward. I am looking forward to having a night away with my hubby but now it just doesn't seem as warranted because we really could have driven to and from, it's not that far. Also, I'm spending the $100 I got for my birthday on this room. There is so much more that I would rather buy but I thought it would be worth it when it was going to be another couple. Does that make sense or is that just weird? Oh well, I'm sure we will still have fun.
